The Apple MacBook Pro 16 (2023) is designed for professionals seeking a balance of performance and portability, with a focus on creative tasks like video editing, design, and music production. Its build quality is known for durability and it often offers long battery life, suitable for being on the go. On the other hand, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 is tailored for high-end gaming and intensive tasks, with powerful graphics capabilities and a high-refresh-rate screen that may be appealing for 3D rendering and complex simulations. However, it is likely to be bulkier and with a shorter battery life compared to the MacBook Pro, and potentially at a more attractive price point for similar levels of CPU performance. The decision hinges on your primary use case: prioritize the MacBook Pro for a premium build and macOS ecosystem geared towards content creation, or the Zephyrus M16 for gaming and Windows-based engineering applications. The Apple MacBook Pro 16 has a better screen than the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 for general use, engineering and design, software development, and content creation, while the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 has a better screen for gaming and AI.
The MacBook Pro 16's screen excels in general use and engineering design due to its high resolution and brightness, alongside a wide color gamut that accurately displays vibrant and precise colors needed for detailed design work. However, for 3D applications, it falls short because of a lower refresh rate which is essential for smooth rendering and animation. On the other hand, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16, while also offering a high-resolution, bright display with good color range for general use and design tasks, may not provide the optimal experience for gaming and 3D due to a comparatively lower refresh rate that could hinder smooth motion during fast-paced activities.

How the Apple MacBook Pro 16 (2023) and the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 compare to other laptops
"The Apple MacBook Pro 16 2023: M2 Max challenges GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. The new MacBook Pro 16 2023 with the M2 Max SoC is the most powerful laptop Apple has on sale right now. While we do not get the expected performance and efficiency improvements from completely new 3 nm chips, which we expected ahead of the launch, the 2023 model is still a solid update. The CPU of the M2 Max can be up to 20 % faster than the old model and we also see an advantage of 25-30 % for the GPU with 38 cores. However, both components also consume more power, so the efficiency did not change that much under maximum load."
"The ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 is not yet as optimised as its predecessor. Compared to the previous gen, performance and efficiency have improved significantly. What's more, the wonderful, Mini-LED Nebula display is a contender for the main highlight and almost manages to put the CPU and GPU in the shade. We already found its predecessor to be a well-rounded and well-optimised gaming machine. Generally, but not unequivocally, that also applies to the new Asus M16. Similar to most of the current, new laptops, we are dealing with a double generational leap in terms of the CPU and GPU. However, this change doesn't always run smoothly."
