The Acer Aspire 5 17 comes at a lower midrange price, offers a moderate 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, suitable for everyday use and multitasking. It's powered by an Intel i5 processor with integrated Iris Xe graphics, which can handle general use and some light graphics tasks efficiently. The 17.3-inch IPS display provides good color and wide viewing angles but is fixed at a Full HD resolution and isn't touch-enabled. The large screen size and full-size keyboard with a number pad enhance productivity but affect portability, as the laptop weighs around 4.61 pounds and has a thickness of 0.71 inches, making it less ideal for frequent travel. It features a decent array of ports, including USB-C, but lacks Thunderbolt support. Battery life is adequate, and it runs Windows 11 Home, making it ready for use right out of the box. If you need a laptop for standard office work, web browsing, and media consumption with a large display, the Acer Aspire 5 17 is a good option, but if portability, high-end gaming, or professional creative tasks are priorities, you may want to consider other models. Gaming & AI:
3.2
The Acer Aspire 5 17's gaming and 3D capabilities are limited by its Intel i5-1335U Iris Xe GPU, which is decent for lighter tasks but may not handle high-performance gaming or intensive 3D applications smoothly. Furthermore, its screen refresh rate is capped at 60 Hz, which can hinder the smoothness of fast-paced action, a potential drawback for gaming and 3D rendering experiences that benefit from higher refresh rates.

NotebookCheck

Marcus Schwarten | March 2021
"The Acer Aspire 5 17 laptop shows the expected strengths in the test. Besides the usual high build quality, the configuration convinces in most benchmarks and tests. The combination of CPU, GPU, and RAM is absolutely sufficient for the everyday office and browsing tasks of a laptop. It also renders the odd game passably if the requirements aren't too high. We liked the matte display in the test as well as the fairly manageable dimensions despite the screen size. It can also be used outdoors, even if it's certainly not a laptop designed for mobility."
