The ASUS TUF Gaming A17 is a midrange-priced gaming laptop notable for its combination of an AMD Ryzen 9 processor and Nvidia RTX 4070 GPU, making it strong in both general use and gaming or engineering tasks. It has a large 17.3-inch display, although the resolution is standard 1080p, and the larger screen size does not enhance portability, with the laptop weighing over 5 pounds. The IPS panel provides good color coverage, satisfactory for gaming and general use, but less ideal for work requiring highly accurate color representation. It shines in heat management and general performance, with ample storage and memory, and includes a substantial battery, although the 10-hour battery life might be shorter during intensive tasks. It has a durable build and is prepared for future upgrades with available RAM and storage slots. It does lack in port selection compared to some premium laptops, but it does offer the essential ports, including Ethernet and USB-C charging. If you're looking for a solid gaming laptop with good performance that can handle engineering software and don't need the highest portability or screen resolution, the TUF Gaming A17 is a strong contender. Alex Iliev | April 2022
"There is one big question that needs an answer. Is the TUF Gaming A17 FA707 a better purchase than the ROG Strix G17 G713R (2022)? Well, it depends. Undoubtedly, the Strix is the more premium product. Arguably the biggest advantage it has over its TUF fellow is in regards to the display. ASUS TUF Gaming A17 A707’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a very good contrast ratio."
