The Dell Inspiron 16 5625 is priced in the lower midrange category, providing reasonable performance with its AMD Ryzen 7 processor and integrated Vega 8 graphics. With 512 GB of storage and 16 GB of RAM, it's suited for everyday tasks and can handle some more demanding applications. The 16-inch IPS display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 1920 x 1200 resolution offers a larger work area and is touch-enabled. This laptop has a fair battery life for typical use. It is fairly portable, given its size and moderate weight, making it a balance between a workstation and a travel-friendly device. The combination of good keyboard and speaker quality alongside Windows 11 Pro makes it suitable for both work and entertainment. It has a backlit keyboard, a good port selection, including USB-C with charging support, but no Thunderbolt ports. It's not specifically geared for intensive gaming or high-end engineering tasks, as the integrated graphics limit its performance in those areas, but it works well for general usage and has silent, fanless operation. Ratings by Category

Operating Noise:
5.0
PerfectRec’s Operating Noise Score is based on fan noise measurements. Laptops with a fanless design, such as Macbooks, receive the maximum score.
General Use:
4.3
PerfectRec’s General Use Score takes into account the many different features of the laptop that make it more or less suitable for general productivity, web browsing, streaming, video calls, and running a wide variety of apps and programs. The most important factors in this score include CPU performance, amount of RAM, screen quality, storage, and battery life. Keyboard quality, speaker quality, low fan noise, heat management, and to a lesser extent webcam quality are all moderately important factors for this score.
Portability:
4.3
PerfectRec’s portability rating takes into account the volume and thickness of the laptop as well as its weight.
Battery Life:
4.2
PerfectRec’s Battery Life rating is based on hours of battery life in typical usage scenarios.
Engineering & Design:
4.1
The Dell Inspiron 16 5625 is suited for engineering and design due to its capable AMD Ryzen 7 processor and 16GB of RAM, which are integral for handling compute-intensive applications. Additionally, the 16-inch IPS screen with a higher resolution and color coverage provides a clear and reasonably color-accurate display necessary for design work, while its relatively lightweight and silent operation support portability and a distraction-free working environment.
Build Quality:
4.0
PerfectRec’s Build Quality Score incorporates case materials, display and keyboard flex, hinge quality, chassis rigidity, and overall reliability. Our assessment of build quality includes many details that are difficult to quantify. Our laptop experts use their best judgment to produce the final score.

4.0
The Keyboard Quality score is based on the PerfectRec experts’ assessment of tactile feedback, typing comfort, keyboard reliability and typing noise.
Gaming, 3D & AI:
3.6
The Dell Inspiron 16 5625 has an integrated AMD graphics card which can handle light gaming and 3D tasks but may struggle with more demanding graphics requirements, while its standard 60Hz screen refresh rate provides a decent but not high-end gaming experience. Additionally, its screen quality, defined by a moderate pixel density and aspect ratio, offers satisfactory screen clarity and viewability but doesn't stand out in color performance or sharpness compared with dedicated gaming laptops.
General Use Screen Quality:
3.4
The general use screen score is based on the screen technology, contrast ratio, resolution, brightness, color gamut and color accuracy. This score does not take into account specialized display features for specific use cases, such as high refresh rate for gaming.

Ultrabook Review

Derek Sullivan | January 2023
"I think there is fair value in the Inspiron 16 this year. Very little has changed with the laptop and my opinion hasn’t really changed either. In other words, I like it. Overall, I think the pros far outweigh the cons of this laptop and the price is certainly justifiable. I found this to be a great typer and I could potentially work all day on this machine, provided I don’t need a graphics card."
