The Gigabyte G5 laptop is a lower midrange priced device with a solid gaming appearance, suited for intensive gaming thanks to its Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti graphics card and Intel i5 processor. It comes with a decent amount of storage and standard RAM that's expandable due to available slots. With a 15.6-inch IPS display and high refresh rate, it's geared toward a smooth visual experience, but the battery life is on the lower end, making it less ideal for long-term mobility. The G5 has multiple ports including Ethernet, HDMI, and USB-C, but lacks Thunderbolt support. It's also equipped with a number pad and a backlit keyboard, enhancing usability. Overall, it's built more for performance than portability, with capability for general use and engineering tasks, though its portability is impacted by its weight and battery life. Give Feedback

Keyboard Quality:
4.2
The Keyboard Quality score is based on the PerfectRec experts’ assessment of tactile feedback, typing comfort, keyboard reliability and typing noise.
Build Quality:
4.1
PerfectRec’s Build Quality Score incorporates case materials, display and keyboard flex, hinge quality, chassis rigidity, and overall reliability. Our assessment of build quality includes many details that are difficult to quantify. Our laptop experts use their best judgment to produce the final score.
General Use:
4.0
The Gigabyte G5 has a capable processor and graphics card for everyday tasks and moderate gaming but may struggle with very demanding applications due to limited RAM. Despite its good screen size and quality, its portability and battery life are compromised, making it less ideal for those needing to work on-the-go.
Engineering & Design:
4.0
PerfectRec’s Engineering and Design Score takes into account the many different features of the laptop that make it more or less suitable for graphic design, CAD and 3D work. In addition to a strong emphasis on overall performance, this score also places very high importance on screen quality. Heat management, storage, keyboard and speaker quality are also incorporated, with fan noise rounding out this score.
Content Creation:
3.9
PerfectRec’s Content Creation Score takes into account the many different features of the laptop that make it more or less suitable for photo editing, and video editing work. In addition to a strong emphasis on overall performance, this score also places very high importance on screen quality. Heat management, storage, keyboard and speaker quality are also incorporated, with fan noise rounding out this score.
General Use Screen Quality:
3.9
The general use screen score is based on the screen technology, contrast ratio, resolution, brightness, color gamut and color accuracy. This score does not take into account specialized display features for specific use cases, such as high refresh rate for gaming.
Portability:
3.7
PerfectRec’s portability rating takes into account the volume and thickness of the laptop as well as its weight.
Gaming & AI:
3.5
The Gigabyte G5's fair gaming and 3D performance is due to its Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti GPU which provides strong graphics capabilities and its high screen refresh rate of 144Hz, enhancing fluidity in motion. However, its somewhat important CPU, the Intel i5, may be less equipped for extremely CPU-intensive tasks, and although the screen offers decent resolution and size, the quality might not match that of more premium displays.
Operating Noise:
3.5
PerfectRec’s Operating Noise Score is based on fan noise measurements. Laptops with a fanless design, such as Macbooks, receive the maximum score.
Software Development:
3.3
PerfectRec’s Software Development Score takes into account the many different features of the laptop that make it more or less suitable for software development. In addition to a strong emphasis on overall performance, this score also places very high importance on screen quality. NotebookCheck

Vaidyanathan Subramaniam | April 2023
"The Gigabyte G5 KE is a midrange gaming laptop that checks most boxes. Gigabyte makes good use of the Core i5-12500H and RTX 3060 Laptop GPU combo, and we find no untoward issues with overall performance. The dual-fan quad-heatpipe cooling arrangement does well to ensure that the underlying hardware doesn't throttle under load. That being said, the display is below par when compared to 2023 standards, especially when competing devices."
