The HP EliteBook 845 G9 is set at a lower midrange price and targets business users with its premium features. Its 14-inch IPS display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and above HD resolution is crisp and offers good color coverage, making it suitable for general work and some image editing. The combination of a capable AMD Ryzen 5 processor and AMD Radeon graphics can handle everyday tasks easily and even provide fair performance for 3D rendering and light engineering work. However, for tasks that require high-end graphics processing like intensive gaming or advanced machine learning, the performance may not be optimal. The 512 GB storage and 16 GB RAM are sufficient for most users, but if you require more space, there is an available storage slot for upgrades. With its backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader, and a good selection of ports including USB-C, this laptop has modern connectivity options. This laptop is relatively lightweight at just over 3 pounds, making it very portable for on-the-go professionals. Its battery life is solid, allowing for up to around 12 hours of typical use, which is beneficial for long workdays away from the charger. Overall, the HP EliteBook 845 G9 is an excellent choice for business and general use, offering a balance of performance, portability, and features, though it's not the best choice for high-end gaming or the most demanding engineering simulations. 4.1
The HP EliteBook 845 G9 is equipped with a capable AMD Ryzen CPU and ample RAM that handle engineering and design applications well, alongside a reliable AMD GPU for graphics-related tasks. The high-resolution IPS display offers quality visuals important for detailed engineering and design work, with good color coverage and brightness.
Gaming & AI:
3.3
The HP EliteBook 845 G9 is considered fair for gaming and 3D because its GPU, the AMD Radeon 660M, is moderate and can handle some gaming and 3D tasks, but is not as powerful as dedicated gaming GPUs. Additionally, the screen's refresh rate is standard at 60Hz, which is adequate for general use but less suitable for high-end gaming where higher refresh rates provide smoother visuals.

Sebastian Jentsch | July 2022
"The high-end version of the HP EliteBook 845 G9 with a Ryzen 9 PRO 6950HS, 32GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD packs a lot of power, but is still quiet and cool enough to operate in noise-sensitive environments. Quiet, cool and drawing on a massive 40 watts from the APU at the same time, however, is not possible. The 14-incher only has a single-fan solution and it only just manages to keep an near unthrottled Ryzen 9 in check."
