The Acer Swift X offers a balance of performance and portability, with a higher resolution display, which is better for tasks like photo editing but comes at a higher price. In contrast, the Dell G15 provides more storage and superior gaming capabilities due to a better graphics card, plus a higher refresh rate which makes it ideal for fast-paced gaming, all at a lower price but with increased weight and reduced battery life. Your choice should be guided by whether you prioritize a lightweight machine with a crisper display and longer battery use, or one that excels in gaming and storage capacity but is heavier and less travel-friendly. The Dell G15 5520 is good for gaming and AI, while the Acer Swift X (2022) is only fair.
The Dell G15 5520 is better for gaming and 3D applications due to its superior Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics card and a higher screen refresh rate of 165 Hz, ideal for smoother visuals in fast-paced games, compared to the Acer Swift X (2022) which has an Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU and a lower 60 Hz screen refresh rate. While both have quality IPS displays, the Acer's higher resolution provides sharper images, but this advantage is less critical for gaming than the Dell's refresh rate and GPU power.

The Dell G15 5520 is very good for engineering and design, while the Acer Swift X (2022) is good.
The Dell G15 5520 is considered better for engineering and design because it has a more powerful CPU and GPU, which are crucial for demanding tasks, while also offering a larger screen and higher refresh rate, enhancing visual detail and smoothness for design work. On the other hand, the Acer Swift X (2022), while having a high-resolution screen and being lighter, thus more portable, has less potent hardware compared to the Dell, which makes it less optimal for the most intensive engineering and 3D design applications.

The Acer Swift X has a better screen than the Dell G15 5520 for general use, and engineering and design, while the Dell G15 5520 has a better screen for gaming and AI.
For general use, both the Acer Swift X and Dell G15 offer displays with adequate resolution and brightness, ensuring clear and vibrant visuals for daily tasks and media consumption. Engineering and design professionals will find that they provide a wide range of colors, crucial for precision in rendering images and designs, but they might not cover the professional color gamuts fully. However, for gaming and 3D applications where smooth motion is key, their screens fall short as they lack high refresh rates, which are essential for fluid and responsive visuals in fast-paced scenarios.

How the Acer Swift X (2022) and the Dell G15 5520 compare to other laptops
"The Swift X is an Acer for entry-level gaming. With the entry-level graphics chip, our Acer not only beats every single current AMD and Intel iGPU, but also Intel's dGPU Iris Xe Max. However, despite being a GDDR6 version, the GTX does not match the expectations set by its own counterparts from our database. This may be a result of the single fan, which only produces moderate noise levels under load. The performance level of the thin and light 1.4 kg (~3.09 lbs) 14-inch laptop is impressive nonetheless."
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and John Peroramas | April 2023
"The Dell G15 (2022) is a 15.6-inch budget gaming laptop, and is great for gaming. You can configure the laptop with powerful Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and various NVIDIA dedicated GPUs, all of which deliver a smooth gaming experience at 1080p. There's also a QHD 240Hz display option if you want better visuals, though you'll have to pair it with the top-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to get good frame rates. It doesn't get overly hot or loud under load, and there's no noticeable throttling on the CPU or GPU. Unfortunately, the 120Hz panel has a slow response time, causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate."
