If you prioritize performance for tasks like 3D modeling, machine learning, or gaming, and don't mind the additional cost and weight, the HP Victus 15 is a great choice with its powerful processor and graphics card. However, if affordability, longer battery life, and a lighter, more portable laptop are more important, and you are fine with slightly less performance, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro would be a better option. Both laptops are suitable for general use and engineering, but the HP leans more towards intensive use cases, while the Lenovo favors users who need to balance between price and capability. The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro has a better screen than the HP Victus 15 for general use, gaming and AI, engineering and design, content creation, and software development.
When considering general use like web browsing and watching videos, the HP Victus 15 offers satisfactory visuals, but the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro's higher resolution and brightness provide crisper and more vibrant images. For engineering and design tasks that demand color accuracy, the Lenovo stands out with its wider color gamut, making it a preferable choice for professionals working with detailed graphics. However, for 3D applications and gaming where fluid motion is key, both laptops may fall short due to lower refresh rates, but the panel quality and resolution would still render the Lenovo slightly more favorable.

The HP Victus 15 and Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro are both fair for gaming and 3D because they come equipped with Nvidia RTX 3050 GPUs, which provide decent graphical power for gaming, but aren't top-end cards that can handle the most demanding games at the highest settings with ease. The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro and HP Victus 15 are both good for engineering and design.
The HP Victus 15 is suitable for engineering and design with its capable Intel CPU, dedicated Nvidia GPU, and a quality IPS screen but has comparatively less RAM than the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro, which boasts a higher resolution display and twice the RAM for handling complex tasks more effectively, alongside a similarly powerful AMD CPU and Nvidia GPU, making it also well-suited for such workloads. While the Victus 15 offers a solid combination of essential features for engineering and design, the IdeaPad 5 Pro's edge in screen details and memory could make it a preferable option for more demanding design work.

How the HP Victus 15 and the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro compare to other laptops
Olivier Martin, Ryan Lim, and Yannick Khong | March 2023
"The HP Victus 15 is great for gaming. It's available with Intel 12th Gen. CPUs and NVIDIA discrete graphics, which are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience in demanding AAA titles at 1080p. It has a nice keyboard and a fast SSD, as well as Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet connectivity for low-latency online gaming. Unfortunately, its 144Hz display has a slow response time causing noticeable ghosting, and it doesn't support variable refresh rate to reduce screen tearing."
"The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro turns out a successful all-rounder that, aside from 3D applications, always strikes a good or very good figure. This begins with the elegant metal case that isn't particularly light but fairly robust, giving a high-quality impression. The input devices are also better than those of many competitors. Both the keyboard and the touchpad are attractive and comfortable. In addition, the performance of the Ryzen 5 6600HS is easily able to keep up with the Intel competitors."
