The Acer Aspire 1 is much less expensive and is good for basic tasks like web browsing and document editing, with a quiet, fanless operation and decent portability. However, it has limited storage and lower performance capabilities, which may not be suitable for more demanding applications. The ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 is significantly more costly but offers powerful performance for gaming, 3D rendering, and engineering software. It has a higher-quality display and better overall build quality, but with increased weight, it isn't as portable. Consider the Acer for casual use and the ASUS if you need high performance for specialist tasks. Give Feedback

CNET

Joshua Goldman | May 2020
"There are no surprises and nothing's extraordinary here but this laptop's price. For those in need of an inexpensive Windows laptop for undemanding tasks, though, the Acer Aspire 1 offers just enough to get the basics done and a larger screen to do them on."

NotebookCheck

Vaidyanathan Subramaniam | May 2022
"Asus continues to refine the ROG Strix Scar lineup with new upgrades. The Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 offers almost everything you would expect from a gaming laptop at this price. The build quality is great, connectivity options are decent, and there is enough scope for internal upgrades as well. Asus reverts to membrane switches for the keyboard — though not as "clickety" as the opto-mechanical ones we saw with last year's model, they still make for a decent typing and gaming experience. The lack of biometrics in any form is a downer."
