If you're looking for superior picture quality, especially in a dark room, the LG B2 OLED TV is a strong choice, with excellent contrast and black levels that make movies and games look great in those conditions. However, it's not as bright as some LCD TVs, so it may not perform as well in a bright room. Alternatively, the Samsung QN85B LCD TV, with its miniLED backlight, offers better performance in bright rooms and costs less. While it doesn't match the OLED for dark room viewing, its greater brightness means it'll stand up better to sunlight or well-lit spaces. For gaming, both TVs perform well, but the LG B2 has a slight edge in gaming features and performance. If you watch a lot of sports, both TVs will serve you well, with smooth motion handling. Remember, OLED TVs like the LG B2 can suffer from permanent burn-in if static elements are displayed for too long; this is not an issue with LCD TVs like the Samsung QN85B. Give Feedback

Tom's guide

Nick Pino | March 2023
"The LG B2 OLED pairs lush, saturated colors and perfect contrast with a 120Hz screen, HDMI 2.1 ports and a great smart TV platform. The LG B2 OLED is an ideal alternative to the LG C2 OLED for folks who want a taste of OLED life without the sticker price that usually comes with it. The LG B2 OLED does a lot right in terms of performance, color saturation is wonderful and contrast is second-to-none. Not only did color saturation and off-axis viewing impress me, harder to quantify specs like motion processing and upscaling really blew me away as well."

What Hi-Fi?

John Archer | February 2023
"Particularly key to this is the fact that black levels are unusually good, on a level we haven’t seen from any IPS TV before. Build quality is impressive too, with a gleaming silver metallic frame and stand, and enough heft to suggest plenty of quality innards. High dynamic range content jumps off the screen with enough luminosity and intensity to really sell what makes HDR special."
